Climate change, energy, energy efficiency, and our environment are important yet complex topics to introduce to students. Here are some activities and resources to help make teaching, and learning, easier and more fun!
Interactive Map websites NEW Canadian Geographic’s Interactive site on Climate Prosperity Dark-Sky and Energy Conservation Resources International Dark-Sky Association - has specific resources for teachers. Also has a great short video "Our Vanishing Night". Using Google Earth to Explore Climate Change Google Earth has a variety of layers that explore the impacts of climate change. Google Earth Outreach Showcase has a variety of maps to choose from exploring water rise, temperature changes, and other environmental effects and thier impacts. YouTube Tutorial The Impact of a Global Temperature Rise of 4°C - an interactive site that explores some of the possible impacts of climate change. Climate Change in our World - an interactive animation showing how climate change and global temperature rises could affect our world. YouTube Resources to Explore Climate Change EarthOutreach by Google Earth offers are variety of videos to explore climate change and other global issues. Climate Change in Google Earth offers a series of short YouTube videos exploring a variety of climate change issues around the globe. Met Office YouTube Channel offers a variety of short videos that explore climate change topics, science and issues. YouTube COP15 Channel The "Raise your voice" channel is part of a collaboration between the Government of Denmark and Google/YouTube to focus on increasing awareness of climate change. NEW Virtual Participation | COP 16 / CMP 6 find UNFCCC Live and On-demand webcast from COP 16 / CMP 6, UNFCCC YouTube, UNFCCC Facebook, UNFCCC Twitter, UNFCCC 'Negotiator' iPhone and iPad applications, UNFCCC Flickr, UNFCCC Greenhouse gas data on Google maps, and United Nations Gateway to Climate Change. Video Games for Exploring Climate Change Challenges Video Game - Climate Challenge - A game where you are president of the European Nations.
