EducatorsYoung people want to know more about climate change, its causes and its effects on their future. Impacts of climate change are now more evident in Saskatchewan and around the world. As educators, we want to prepare young people with the information and decision making skills they will need. Climate Change Education Saskatchewan was a project hosted by Saskatchewan Instructional Development and Research Unit (SIDRU) Faculty of Education, University of Regina. The project was funded by the Government of Canada, SaskPower, SaskEnergy and the Government of Saskatchewan. Many other conservation related organizations contributed to the initiative. Earn an “Idle Free Zone” sign for your school! - Stop vehicle's from idling infront of your school and raise awareness that exhaust emissions are harmful to health and the environment? Temperature Rising! - is a musical play that teaches about climate change through drama and music. The play includes a variety of music styles including rap, chanting, and chorus mixed with storytelling, science experiments and promots action. Some of the climate change topics covered are: greenhouse effect, energy and water use, prairie drought and melting glaciers. Participants will experience biodiversity in Saskatchewan’s south-west, at the landscape, species and in some examples, the genetic level, through extensive field study opportunities.
