Avoid Idling

The Government of Saskatchewan's Idle Free Zone program facilitates schools, health facilities, municipal offices, community and recreation centres and government offices to encourage staff, clients, and visitors to turn their vehicle engines off when not driving. This simple act saves on fossil fuel usage, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and saves the driver money.

In addition studies by Health Canada have shown a direct link between contaminants in vehicle emissions and significant respiratory health effects. Children are particularly vulnerable to air pollution, especially those with asthma, because they breathe faster than adults and inhale more air per kilogram of body weight.
