How much CO2 does a vehicle put into the air every year?
It depends on many factors including:
- the vehicle
- how far you drive
- where you drive and
- how you drive
Every litre of gasoline that your vehicle burns produces 2.4 kilograms of CO2. If you drive 20,000 km a year your vehicle produces about:
- Mid-sized SUV = 6 tonnes
- Mid-sized sedan = 4 tonnes
- Gasoline-electric hybrid vehicle = 2 tonnes
