Aboriginal PeopleA significant proportion of the population in Saskatchewan consists of aboriginal peoples. Saskatchewan is home to many First Nations governments and Metis communities. First Nations and Metis people share many of the same concerns and issues related to climate change with the general provincial population. However, some issues are of more concern. A significant portion of aboriginal people live in the north and in rural areas. Many live traditional lifestyles and depend on natural resources for their livelihood. As a result, a greater proportion of aboriginal people face special challenges in reducing emissions and are sensitive to climate change impacts on the natural landscape.
